A night full of stars

The Michelin Guide Gala in Spain leaves 34 new stars in our country
On the night of November 28, Barcelona was filled with chefs (already crashed or waiting to get the first) that arrived in the city to attend the Michelin guide gala of Spain and Portugal. With a luxury presenter, Andreu Buenafuente and a luxury scenario, the Auditori Fèrum, more than a hundred chefs gathered on this long -awaited night for those of their profession.
This year, in addition, it is historical, it is the first time that Spain and Portugal celebrate individual and non -joint galas. The Lusos are their turn on February 27 at the Algarve. The gala gala coordinators were Jordi Cruz (Abac, three Michelin star), the brothers Sergio and Javier Torres (Cuisine Hermanos Torres, three Michelin star and a green star) and Paolo Casagrande (Lasarte, three Michelin star).
The choice of Barcelona as headquarters has not been trivial, because the city has three restaurants with three Michelin star, specifically the three restaurants, or rather the three chefs responsible for gastronomically coordinating the gala.
Before the gala, Spain had 13 restaurants with three stars, 34 with two and 235 with a star. Among the fortunate star we find chef such as Martín Berasategui, Jesús Sánchez or Cristóbal Muñoz, three of the more than 40 chefs that appear in our most recent catalog of Gastrochef By Gary’s.

At the end of the night the numbers were like this:
- 15 Three stars.
- 32 Two stars.
- 224 A star.
This year we have two new incorporations to the Olympus of the three stars, which adds a fortnight of restaurants that hold this award in our country. In the 28th gala they have welcomed the third macarrón the restaurants Noor by Paco Morales (Córdoba) and the Enjoy from Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas (Barcelona). We also have a new incorporation in the section of the two stars, the sale Moncalvillo of Ignacio and Carlos Echapresto (Daroca de Rioja). Finally, Spain adds 31 new restaurants with a Michelin star, three of which have fallen in the province of Jaén, two in the capital (Radis, Malak) and one in Baeza (Vandelvira).
In addition to the traditional red stars, since 2020 the so -called green stars are delivered, which reward the commitment of the restaurants that receive them with sustainability and the environment. This year 12 new stars have been delivered that added to the existing ones make Spain hold a total of 49.
But not only stars lives the gala, in addition to crowning restaurants with their corresponding stars (red or green) the night left us a series of awards that recognize the work of mentors, room staff and young promises. Thus, the chef mentor award has been for Juan Mari Arzak De Arzak (Donodtia), the room award has taken it Joan Carles Ibáñez from Lasarte Restaurant (Barcelona), the Young Chef award has been for Martina Puigvert from the Le Cols Restaurant (OLOT), the best sommelier award has fallen to Josep "Pitu" Roca, one of the Roca brothers of the famous "The Celler de Can Roca".
In addition to delivering stars to restaurants and prizes to several talents inside and outside the kitchen, the Michelin guide also keeps a section for restaurants, bars and cafes whose quality and good service makes them deserving of such distinction. We talk about the well -known mentions in the guide as well as the recognition Bib Gourmand and the Michelin dish. Among this year's additions to these categories, the Abarike Restaurant (Gijón) captured by Lara Roguez (page 34 of the Gastrochef By Gary's catalog), Fernándo Martín's exemption restaurant (Page 10 of the Gastochef By Gary's catalog) or the restaurant The Seve Diaz Workshop Seve Díaz (Page 9 of the Gastrochef By Gary's Catalog), among others.
